Today was a beautiful day in London, and made me want to go out for a ride. I then brought the girls to school, I came home to empty the washing machine, and then off to London Bridge for a walk on the river. After almost 15 years I wanted to give a chance to the Tate Modern, which at the time had left me perplexed and skeptical. Let's be honest, how many of you watching the famous painting by Mondrian have thought, "Hey, but it's the publicity of L'Oréal ", without understanding the intrinsic message that the artist wanted to give us . Let's be honest , I said .. So today I armed myself with a critical mind free from bias, and I must say that , while remaining a fan of classical art, led by Caravaggio and cronies, this time modern art did not leave me indifferent. Even though I still don't like Picasso at all, by carefully observing the works of Picasso, Dali, Richter, Rothko , Kandinsky or the famous Fontana's cuts, I must admit that it is not so true that " I could do this too." Fontana affects the canvas with a baffling precision, impossible to do so without specific studies. And even abstract works full of color and patches of Cy Twombly, who with Bacchus' series seems to take around his deceptively elementary technique, are not so simple to play: in long strokes the color seems to maintain the same intensity despite being practically impossible, since the gigantic size of the canvas. And how did Lee Ufan to do the opposite, giving dozens of vertical strokes the same concentration of color which then goes to wane ? Without ever overdriven?! But then this is art! And, if you contextualize the entire era of their achievements, at the late '800 up to half of the 900, these artists can be defined as true visionary, precursor of an entire era! Without them there would be no Pop Art by Warhol, sure , even the cinema as we know it today would be different! Dali gave insights dreamlike and surreal at many contemporary filmmakers .. hemm .. David Lynch .. hemm. I enjoyed this morning just for me , sipping a cup of tea at the end of it, at the bar of the terrace of the museum, thinking that, though, in spite of everything, the section that I personally call " Well .. " is still quite crowded. Anything goes, but we ain't stupid , huh ...

Cara la mia critica d'arte condivido su tutta la linea. Tranne che per i tagli di Fontana, non riesco proprio ad apprezzarli....magari dal vivo....
